Attack on Titan:- Episode 6, "Thaw", Summary

 

The Rumbling still continues. Till now we saw the season from the perspective of Eren , mostly. But episode 6 shifted focus from Eren to his friends. The episode begins with Reiner and Gabi talking. When Eren stripped the wall hardening, he had undone the hardening of the Armoured Titan as well. The falling debris of the wall hit Reiner badly. Gabi saw that Reiner is fatally wounded so she helped him find shelter and went out to rescue Falco who , according to Reiner is under the custody of Jean and Connie. 

Next we switch to the four friends, Mikasa, Armin, Jean and Connie. Jean ties up Falco and the friends discuss what to do with him. Jean insists on keeping him in custody and find Commander Pixis, feed Falco to him and make him shift from his Titan form. And Connie cuts in between saying they should feed  Falco to his mother. After a small debate with Armin, Titans started attacking the group. Connie, seeing this as an opportunity, took Falco and ran away. 

And then we see Sasha's family in trouble cuz they are being chased by a Titan. Kaya who looks back for a while, hits a broken gate and falls into a tunnel. The Titan also jumps in it. Kaya starts remembering her past, about how her mother was killed by a Titan. She starts calling out Sasha for help. And then as the Titan almost had Kaya, Gabi shoots the Titan with the anti-titan rifle. The Titan gets hit. She loads again, jumps off of some boxes and fires the gun in the Titan's mouth killing him! Badass!! Some soldiers come in,seeing Gabi holding the rifle. They immediately suspected her to be marleyan. But Sasha's family saved Gabi.

Then we skip to the fort where some of the eldian troops are under attack by a Titan horde. And out of nowhere comes Instructor Sades, boosts the morale of the troops and takes them into combat.

Yelena, who is looking out of the window as a Titan approaches to eat her, is saved by Mikasa, who slices the nape off in style, as always. Jean leads the group as they fight and orders everyone to bring in the remaining Thunder Spears and target the Titans at once.

Armin and Jean see Commander Pixis. But Armin frees him from his misery. Sades, with some men , lured Titans to the fort and then the soldiers killed them. After some time we see the fires settle down. Onyankopon and Jean are talking about what Eren will do. During this conversation enters Floch, who is injured. He comes and talks to Jean , praises him for his leadership and says he can't die when the eldian empire is rising again. After that he puts a gun over Yelena's head and says her to gather all the volunteers as they are now under arrest.

Mikasa and Armin meet Gabi. She says she only wants Falco with her and then she will leave. Armin explains the situation to her. She starts crying. She asks whether Eren can fix Connie's mom by saying that he can do almost anything, as he stripped the Armoured Titan of it's Armor. Armin asks Gabi, HOW? WHEN? And she says " As the walls fell.......", Armin gasps. He is troubled after hearing this. Because he knows that Annie is free now.
